Talking, smelling and tasting – Friday Link-Ups

Apparently it’s Friday the 13th. Usually I’m aware of it when that happens. Had to actually see someone else mention it on their blog for it to click in the ol’ brain. I spent a lot of time this week working on a real-deal copywriting project, and it seems to have fried gray matter a little. Thank goodness it’s Friday, I guess. Checking in with my favorite Friday link-ups – Oh, Hey Friday, High Five for Friday, and Friday Favorites (add’l links below) – for five of my favorite things from this week!

True story. I have little to no control over my facial expressions. If I’m thinking/feeling it, you’re probably seeing it.

Last night Tall Guy and I got to attend a Tampa Bay Lightning hockey game. One of his work perks, we were invited to a corporate suite. There was delicious food and a great group. Since many of the people in the suite were clients of the suite-holders, it was a mixed bag and intended for networking. That can go badly, but it ended up being a really great mix. The suite-holders had also snagged two seats in the third row behind the benches. We decided we’d do first and second periods in the suite, but take advantage of the great floor tickets for the second period.

Naturally, I wanted to share the experience, so I posted a photo on Instagram. My Instagram photos automatically post to my Twitter account. Shortly after I’d posted the photo, there was an announcement asking fans to post on social media, using a special hashtag (which I had NOT used), and then sharing some things that were already on Twitter. I was considering adding the new hashtag to IG when Tall Guy suddenly says, “Hey! That’s your tweet!”. I looked up just in time to see it sliding off the center-ice scoreboard. Totally made my night!

Favorite New Recipe

In an attempt to bring some more variety into dinnertime, I’ve been trying some new recipes. There was a successful Hawaiian Grilled Cheese night last week. Then a not-so-successful rice/quinoa/wheat berry salad this week. But THEN an undeniably delicious salmon dish, this week. Cedar Planked Salmon with Maple Glaze by Epicurious. The recipe actually can be done without the cedar plank (which is how I did it) and is still phenomenal. Epicurious recommends a mustard mashed potato to accompany. We did a cheesy mashed potato, instead, and a side of steamed green beans. SO GOOD.
The photo below is not mine, it is from Epicurious.com. I was too hungry to spend time taking photos.
