Singing, sleeping, drinking – Friday Favorites

Happy Friday the 13th! There is no logical reason for my liking Friday the 13th. I don’t do horror movies, at all. This month it’s mostly serving as a countdown. Two days until NCAA brackets are decided. One week until my birthday. Thirteen days until I attend my first NCAA Elite 8 game. Lots of really good stuff coming up! While ticking away the minutes, I’m spending this Friday the 13th linking up with Oh, Hey Friday, High Five for Friday and Friday Favorites (add’l links below)!

Favorite Song This Week

Take You High by Kelly Clarkson. In case you’re unaware, I adore Kelly Clarkson. This song is from her new album, and I’m weirdly obsessed with it. It’s not traditional Kelly Clarkson, it’s kind of clubby. But I liiiiiike it.

Favorite Event this Week

The engagement party of two wonderful people, Javi and Cait. Javi was Tall Guy’s best man at our wedding. Cait and Javi are like two peas in a pod. From the beginning, everyone on the outside could see that they were a perfect fit. Their engagement party was just as perfect – and so very them. The weather was beautiful, so people wandered between the massive spread of food in the house and the picturesque seating outside. There were chairs around a fire pit, and a last-minute homemade-by-Cait wooden farm-style table low to the ground, surrounded by pillows and blankets. There were fresh flowers, candles, lanterns and mason jars. Both of their mothers were able to come into town and so many of their friends – all such good people. I made a new friend, got to talk Chicago with another stranger, played Cards Against Humanity for the first time and may or may not have single-handedly taken down three bottles of wine.

Favorite Compliment

So that PowerPoint project I worked on for Tall Guy? The one where I had NO CLUE what I was doing? Well, he sent it off to the client. The client wrote back enthusiastically thanking him for the work. She actually called it “perfect.” Whaaaaaat? Don’t worry, I’m not under the mistaken impression that I’m a graphic professional overnight. I’m not. I am, however, always happy to be told that I’ve done a good job. Doesn’t everyone like that?

You weren’t kidding when you said “picturesque!” That farmhouse table is incredible. And don’t worry – we’ve all taken down multiple bottles of wine single-handedly in one sitting… or at least I have. 😉 Happy weekend!

Yes, Cait is incredibly crafty – she just thinks “I want to do… this.” And then does it. And it looks amazing. Hope you’re having a great weekend, too, Samantha!

Cards Against Humanity is the BEST! You obviously needed the 3 bottles to go with it, because that’s how the game is best played.

Ha! Point taken, Laura. Well, if the game were about alcohol consumed, then I totally won. Otherwise I was just like, second runner up.

Oooo a “perfect” comment! Nice! That’s exciting. And I’m pretty sure waffles would get me out of bed. No problem. Hope you had a wonderful weekend, and thanks for linking up with H54F!

Well, you won’t have to be too envious, we’re not in the right region for Duke. However, barring a super-ridiculous upset, we’ll get to see Kentucky. Not necessarily a Kentucky fan, but they are awesome this year.
