Peace, procrastination and les poissons – Friday Link-Ups

The last seven days have been hard for this world. I hope that this weekend we all find a little more love, and a little more peace. In the meantime, let’s pretend things are already getting better, and we’re able to carry on as we always do. So I’m hanging out with my favorite Friday link-ups – Oh, Hey Friday, High Five for Friday, and Friday Favorites (add’l links below) – for five of my favorite things from this week!

Favorite Funny

This week I’ve been getting lots done. Organizing sections of my life (largely by organizing files in my computer), and finally dealing with papers and boxes that have been floating around the house for almost as long as we’ve lived here. It feels good to get these things off my desk, and my mind, but at the end of the day, there isn’t actually a lot to show for what I’ve been doing. I’m not being lazy, I’m just accomplishing things that can’t be seen. I swear!

Productive at unimportant things

Favorite Author Bio

Damon Young is an editor and writer. I stumbled across him this past week when I caught this article, via a friend’s Facebook post. I liked his piece because of how witty it was (not just funny, but clever), and then I saw his bio. Love it.

Favorite Food This Week

Oddly, it is also now the food that I would like to avoid for the foreseeable future. On Tuesday, Tall Guy went fishing with friends. It was a very successful trip. On Tuesday night we had grilled Grouper.
Tall Guy Fishing Trip Kingfish
The fish that Tall Guy is holding in the photo, above, is a King Fish. While there’s a possibility I’ve had King Fish (who knows?), I’ve never cooked it, before. So on Wednesday night I fried up King Fish steaks, Jamaican style, using a recipe from I didn’t make the escovitch dressing, but the fried fish was delicious on its own. Thursday night I used more King Fish for baja fish tacos. While I wouldn’t recommend King Fish for fish tacos (a little too fishy), I found awesome baja sauce and baja taco slaw recipes. As soon as I come up with a baja fish taco recipe that works, for me, I’ll be sharing it. That’s a promise.

The downside of all this? I do not want to see fish on my plate any time in the near future.

Unless it’s sushi. Sushi still sounds amazing.

Favorite Song

Like I’m Gonna Lose You by Meghan Trainor, featuring John Legend. I’m loving it, just like everybody else.
