The most hectic time of the year

Things have gotten hectic lately, as is usually the case during the holiday season. There are several things that I’m feeling guilty about neglecting. This blog, for one. The next big one? PiYo. Despite being frustrated beyond ALL get out about what I feel is a complete lack of notable progress, I was completely on task for nearly 4 full weeks.

And then holiday parties.

Some of the holiday parties invading my schedule were fetes that I didn’t even attend! While generally agreeable to act as a pre-designated sober chauffeur, sitting around waiting for that call can often hinder all other attempts at productivity. And the Ugly Sweater party. So fun! However, the complete lack of ugly sweaters in stores was shocking. Ugly Sweater parties have saturated the holiday event market… and yet I couldn’t find a single one! It took seven stores to find plain green and red sweaters that I spent several hours decorating myself. (for a photo of the results, check out my Instagram feed!)

And then travel.

Prior to actually traveling, there are all the pieces of getting ready. Cleaning the house, madly doing laundry in order to have clothes to wear during travel, coordinating pet care. And packing. Oh, how I loathe packing. Almost as much as I loathe 6:40 a.m. flights that require waking prior to 5:00 a.m. No, wait. I actually hate packing more. That says a lot.

Luckily, the travel is always worth it. Seeing family and friends is the ultimate reward, but tasty eats are a close second – both favorite haunts and new spots. Arriving at our first destination, Adam’s grandfather’s house, we got to see old family photos (1917!) and hear adorable stories of my husband’s childhood antics. Then we stepped out for a lovely lunch at the decadent and delicious La Mie Bakery!

I love me some French food… and now, over the river and through the woods, to grandmother’s house we go!

I’m so hungry now. Also, I can never seem to find a good ugly Christmas sweater when I need one! But this year I discovered Tipsy Elves and their sweaters are AWESOME! I have the T-Rex one. It’s great 🙂 Miss you and hope you had a Merry Christmas and safe travels!
