It’s been one of those weeks where everything seems to go wrong. Perhaps you noticed that my website was MIA for nearly 48 hours? That sets the stage, if you will. You can guess how the rest of my life fared. Murphy’s Law – anything that can go wrong, will. Here’s hoping that Friday closes not only this week, but also this phase of failures.

Favorite Makeup This Week
A couple weeks ago, it occurred to me that perhaps I’d like to begin wearing makeup. While I haven’t made any decisions on daily use, I have discovered several products that I’m excited about.
First up is Garnier BB Cream. Several people recommended BB creams. Admission: while was aware of the existence of BB cream (I’m not completely out of touch), I had no idea what it was, or why it was such a big deal. Thank heaven for real-life friends who just happen to be beauty bloggers. Niki, of Glossy Blonde, not only offered initial suggestions, but put up with my continued questions and confusion. Upon her very specific recommendation, I opted to purchase Garnier brand BB cream. (This was my own purchase and not sponsored in any way)
In case you are makeup-illiterate, as I was (am), BB creams are intended as an all-in-one solution for any single, or combination of, serum, moisturizer, primer, foundation and sunblock. The idea that the product wasn’t just sitting on my skin, but actually working with my skin was very appealing. I ended up choosing the Miracle Skin Perfecter Anti-Acne BB Cream in light/medium. I’ve only used it twice, but I’m very impressed. It definitely evens out my skin tone, but without looking heavy.
It’s definitely going to be a part of my routine when I wear makeup. How often I’ll be wearing makeup? The jury is still deliberating.
The second noteworthy item is nanoblur by Indeed Labs*. It advertises an air-brushed, matte look “for high definition ready skin in seconds.” I expected a tinted foundation. Nope, a nearly clear gel. Although it’s thicker than any other product I’ve ever used (including hair products), it isn’t difficult to put on, or blend in. Also, you need surprisingly little gel to fully treat your face. The big question is: does it work? Yes. It truly does. It mattifies beautifully and completely, without drying. It also lives up to its claim of minimizing pores and reducing fine lines. It’s kind-of amazing, really. I’ve had success using it alone, over just daily moisturizer, as well as with the Garnier BB Cream.
Favorite Project This Week
Editing Episode 2 of Bourbon & Bordeaux, which has JUST gone live on YouTube! I’m learning how to edit video in possibly the worst way – with big plans, a self-imposed deadline and no real knowledge of the programs I’m using. While I’ve been getting a ton of help from Tall Guy, and Googling the crap out of my questions, I’m sure that it would be wiser to take a comprehensive course, and progress one step at a time, instead of attempting to create the Mona Lisa on the first try. (Or whatever the YouTube equivalent of the Mona Lisa may be)
Coincidentally, Episode 2 discusses everything that we’ve learned about the content end of vlogging. If you want to learn the best way to make a successful YouTube video, check us out!
If you never plan on making a YouTube video, that’s okay. It’s still worth a view, I promise.

Have a wonderful weekend, e’rybody!
* My thanks to Indeed Labs and Influenster for allowing me to try out nanoblur. I received this product in exchange for my review of same. All of the viewpoints in this article are mine and an honest reflection of my experience and opinions.
