Yesterday was one of those days. You know, where the Universe seems to have it out for you. While I woke up motivated and ready to tackle my To-Do list, it wasn’t long before I could sense the day would not go well. The morning was a string of little things going wrong around the house. When it came time to leave the house and run a series of errands, that’s when it really hit me. I stopped the car in the driveway and actually considered not running the errands. I could just feel that things were going to get worse. However, I chalked it up to me being overly dramatic and went on my way.
Less than two hours later I was walking through PetSmart, holding a tissue to my face, attempting to stop the bleeding that was flowing from the bridge of my nose, which was now sliced open. And, because it had already been a horrible day, I teared up when the split happened. Between my already being upset, getting embarrassed about the situation, and compounded with everyone in the store staring at me, I couldn’t stop crying. Mortifying.
How my nose got sliced open isn’t interesting. I mean, it wasn’t a rogue animal, or my own stupidity. Just life, smacking me in the face. With a sharp edge and surprising force.
In order to prevent additional scarring (because there’s just no way that sucker isn’t going to leave a mark), I’m going to avoid going out into the sun for as long as possible. And that means my holiday shopping will be done either under the cover of darkness or, more likely, online. Since I’m feeling sorry for myself and my face with the big red minus sign across the middle of it, I’ve spent most of my time looking at things for myself.
In an effort not to make this entirely about me, I’m sharing some of the great deals and items I’ve found. My loss, your gain!
Hopefully your week got off to a less painful start than my own. If not, I highly recommend some retail therapy from the comfort of your home.
