A new year, a new me (maybe)

New Year! New Me!

Or maybe just the same Old Me, at least for today.

Tonight is the first episode of Season 20 of The Bachelor. This means Girls Night. My friends and I get together, drink cocktails (usually wine) and potluck ridiculously delicious spreads. Oh, and watch The Bachelor. (We’ll also be filling out our Bachelor Brackets) The reason I say that I’m still the Old Me is because, once again, it’s mid-afternoon and I have no idea what I’ll be bringing to the table (pun intended).

There may be one difference, tonight. Generally, while my friends bake up homemade treats, I’m the one walking through the door with grocery bags in hand, doling out still-packaged cheese, cookies and whatever-else-I-saw-while-running-through-Publix. However, I’m currently on a rather strict meal plan. I cannot have the cheese. Or the cookies. Or 99% of the other things I’ve brought to Girls Night in the past. Not even the wine! In order to be able to eat with my friends, I’ve got to come up with something that fits into the plan.

Writing this post is not actively furthering that process.

The closest I’ve gotten to brainstorming is bringing my new Tapas cookbook into the office and placing it next to my computer.

Also on my desk, waiting for attention, is Susannah Conway’s Unravelling  the Year Ahead workbook. I’m excited to dive in and infuse some motivation and direction into my new year, but today won’t be the day. I stumbled across Conway’s workbook late in 2014 (I don’t remember how) and was excited to utilize it for 2015. In related news, that printout went into the recycling bin yesterday. Untouched. But this year will be different! The New Me is absolutely going to get that done.

This brings our tally to…

Old Me: 1
New Me: 1 (potentially)

Ah! Ring another one up for New Me! The Christmas Tree is down! The decorations have been packed away and the tree is on the curb – and on garbage day, no less! I’m certain that Old Me would still have the tree up. Does anyone else get anxiety about missing a beloved ornament when taking down the tree? I keep wanting to run outside and check the tree, justonemoretime, to make sure I haven’t accidentally overlooked a trinket.

Also in the bucket for New Me is blog sponsorship. This month I’m hanging out on Bourbon, Lipstick and Stilettos‘ sidebar. I absolutely adore Lindsay’s blog (and Lindsay). She’s always talking about something to which I can relate, AND she’s a fabulous writer. If you haven’t visited her spot before, do it. Do it now!

There. Now New Me is totally winning.

I’ll share more about the Unravelling workbook after I’ve had a chance to work on it. In the meantime, I’m loving reading and hearing about the New Everyone Else. How will this year be different for you?

Thanks for the shout-out today! I am so excited to have you and am so appreciative of your support. So, are you doing Whole30? What’s this strict meal plan consist of? And don’t feel bad… I’m always the one coming in with the pre-packaged foods, straight from the grocery store. Who has time to plan out meals?! Not these ladies! Hope you have a great night! Here’s to an awesome 2016!

I’m doing Take Shape for Life. Short version: Phase 1: 6 meals a day at regular intervals. 5 of the meals are pre-packaged items from the company, 1 meal is “lean & green” (1 serving lean protein, 3 servings low-glycemic veggies). Yesterday was the last day of Week 4 and it has worked SO well! I’m definitely going to write about it once I’ve transitioned completely out of the prepackaged foods, but don’t want to jump the gun. Or jinx how well it’s going. The night went well. It’s tough to avoid foods I love, but I also know it’s only for now – eventually I’ll be able to have wine and cheese again!

Everyone has been talking non-stop about the Bachelor! I hope it’s a good premiere. And congrats on the sponsorship!
